The 包容 Council is comprised of the chairs of 多样性 和 包容 Committees (Equity Advocates) already or recently forged in colleges, Student Affairs 和 units. The Council works on relevant unit-based inclusivity by exchanging information, discussing obstacles, resources, activities, best practices 和 creative ideas about inclusive pedagogy, recruiting, retention, 和 programming.
Equity Advocates have the following responsibilities:
- Strategic planning, leadership, 和 accountability for diversity, equity, 和 inclusion (DEI).
- Assisting in the creation of a strategic plan for DEI, aligned with the university’s Strategic Plan 和 results from the 2019 campus climate survey. For example:
- Assisting in the recruitment 和 retention of underrepresented faculty 和 staff.
- Assisting in the recruitment 和 retention of underrepresented students.
- Promoting curriculum transformation (cutting edge pedagogy; inclusive teaching, active engagement, internationalization, 等.).
- Assisting in fundraising efforts to support the college’s strategic plan for DEI 和 the university’s plan, as appropriate.
- Assisting with special initiatives 和 projects/events, as requested.
- Attending monthly meetings 和 potential subcommittee meetings for Equity Advocates as organized by the AVP of 多样性, Equity 和 包容.
